So the building craze has slowed. Contractors are going out of business. And, people are not buying new homes. Well, you don’t have to. That’s right… you don’t have to. People are discovering inexpensive remedies that were previously only left to professional contractors and deep pockets. One such discovery is pedestal fans.
A new fan installed in your ceiling is certainly nice, and will no doubt take care of the needs for the entire room, but consider a pedestal fan as an alternative. These devices are relatively inexpensive, portable, and boast a variety of features.
A pedestal fan can be purchased at your local Walmart for about $25.00. Such a fan would be ideal for using in the garage, the covered patio, or in a basement or attic. Or, you can purchase a fan at a higher range of $150.00 which would be elegant and suitable for nearly any room of the house.
A great characteristic of pedestal fans, is the fact that they can be moved from room to room with ease. They are very lightweight and many can be collapsed for even greater mobility. As mentioned already, these fans are relatively inexpensive, but the fact that they can be easily moved from room to room adds to their thrifty nature. Think about it. One fan can now serve the entire house. Compare that to a ceiling fan, which can only service the room in which it is permanently installed.
Pestal fans have a variety of features. Some models have an oscillating option, which distributes the rapidly moving air in a fan-like fashion throughout the room. Not only does this feature soothe those in the room, it also serves to help filter all of the household air for those homes which have an air purifier system. The oscillating motion causes particles to remain airborne, thus increasing the likely-hood that they will find their way to a filter system. These fans also have various speed settings. They can be set at a whisper low level that provides an almost unnoticeable breeze, to a stiff flow of air that can help dry-out a room with wet carpet.
Well, a portable fan may not be a total renovation of the house, but it certainly is a cost effective remedy to cool off on hot summer days, or invite a breeze inside your home. They don’t break the pocketbook, they can be elegant enough to place in the front room, and they have a great variety of features.
